The Summer is HOT, but These Cocktails Are Hotter!!

Temperatures aren’t the only thing on the rise.  Summer brings exciting adventures, experiences and opportunities. Like finally venturing out to that bar you’ve seen on Instagram with that killer margarita recipe you’ve been dying to try. Whether you’re looking for a classic summer drink recipe or wanting to try something new, these cocktails are shaking up menus across the country. Cool off and join us as we take a look at the hottest drink trends for the summer.

Aperol Spritz

It’s important to drink lots of water…soda water that is! Mix it with prosecco, Aperol and an orange slice to garnish and you have one of the top summer cocktails. The Aperol Spritz is a light and fresh aperitif perfect for enjoying before dinner.

Traditionally, this cocktail is served in a large wine glass. Our recommendation is the 16 oz. Romeo wine glass showcasing the classic, tulip shape. Now with ArmoRim, this glass is both sheer and strong. Featuring a fine, sheer rim with added strength, this glass is durable yet beautiful for service.

Aperol Spritz Recipe

3 oz. Prosecco

2 oz. Aperol

1 oz. Club Soda

4 oz. Ice Cubes

Garnish: 1 Orange Slice

Pour Prosecco into a wine glass.

Gently add about 4 ounces of ice cubes, or half a wine glass' worth.

Pour in the Aperol and soda water. Gently stir and garnish with an orange slice.

Espresso Martini

Looking for a cocktail to kick off your evening out…or looking for a pick me up mid way through the night? Look no further than the Espresso Martini! According to Insider Hook, “after a stimulating run in the ‘90s, the Espresso Martini faded into obscurity for most of the early 2000s. Then came 2021. According to Yelp’s data science team, the rate of mentions for the buzzy cocktail was up nearly 300 percent in the first six months of last year as compared to the same period three years earlier.” All of a sudden, the Espresso Martini was back and craved more than ever before.

Serve up your martinis in a variety of vessels - from a traditional martini glass, to a timeless Nick and Nora or an elegant coupe. Shown here is our Cabernet Coupe.

Sheer rims, superior strength and long lasting brilliance make this glass a showstopper!

Espresso Martini Recipe

4 oz. Vanilla Vodka

2 oz. Coffee Liquor (Kahlua)

2 oz. Creme de Cacao

2 Espresso Shots

Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake, shake, shake for at least 20 seconds.

Strain in glass. If you shake it enough, there will be enough froth on top to hold 3 coffee beans as a garnish.

Margarita

A staple cocktail bound to be found on any menu. After a long day in the sun, what better way to cool off than with a margarita in hand. Spice up your menu by offering a twist on the traditional beverage. Choosing unique flavors like watermelon, jalapeno peach or passion fruit - but don’t stop just there! Mixing up your presentation also offers an additional “wow factor”. Move away from the traditional margarita glass and offer this tasty cocktail in a unique tumbler glass like our Aska collection whose shapes offer a contemporary and modern experience.

Passion Fruit Margarita Recipe

1 ½ oz Santera Tequila Blanco

¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice

½ oz Passionfruit Syrup

¼ oz Dry Curaçao

¼ oz Agave Syrup

2 dashes Vanilla Extract

1 Ripe Passionfruit

Top with 4-5 dashes Peychaud's Bitters

Cut the passionfruit open and scoop the insides into a shaking tin. Add the rest of the ingredients except bitters, then add ice and shake. Open pour into a rocks glass, then top with bitters and more ice. Garnish with a freshly cut passion fruit wedge and an edible calendula flower.
