We're Falling for these Autumn Food and Design Trends

As seasons change, we welcome new, cozy menus and a warm tabletop to complement fall ingredients. Tables and presentations start to transition from bright and bold to neutral and intimate. Diners move to more savory, comforting foods this fall. As we take a look through some of the top design and food trends this season, we are joined by acclaimed Chef Leia Gaccione, chef and owner of South + Pine eatery in Morristown, NJ and contestant on Bravo’s Top Chef. Chef Leia’s menu boasts of fresh, seasonal ingredients and flavors and leads with her driving mission to serve seasonal and locally sourced food made with love.

Earthy Flavors and Neutral Designs

Autumn menus are exploding with fresh produce, herbs and unique flavors. We can expect to see more mushrooms and spices like turmeric leading the way this season. Diners are looking for something that couples freshness with comfort. Unique spins on classic comforts like pastas, roasted potatoes and soups will be top of mind for foodies this fall.

When looking at plateware designs, we will see growth in neutral and earth tones. Let the food be the focus and complement it with a beautiful canvas. The perfect fit? Our Dudson Evo collection. Designed with the appearance of hand-thrown pottery, its homely charm adds a touch of warmth to any tabletop.  “I am really enjoying the Dudson plateware that we have incorporated onto our tables this year,” said Chef Leia. “There is a wide range of styles, and the plates we chose are stunning.” Evo is available in three matte colors: Granite, Jet and Pearl

Organic Shapes

This plateware trend is here to stay long after the fall season is behind us! Organic shapes are a reflection of nature and pull inspiration from elements that can be seen outside like rivers, trees, wind and more. The natural curves of these elements are incorporated onto plateware to create a beautiful and organic presentation.

You can see this trend in our newly launched Organic White collection. Dudson Organic White is a collection of exclusive shapes with designs featuring a subtle irregular edge and hand-thrown embossment. Manufactured in Dudson’s Finest Vitrified body, the collection has the industrial toughness to stand up to everyday use in a professional kitchen.

Texture

Texture takes presentations to new levels! Adding a variety of fresh produce and herbs into fall menus is an easy way to create more texture. This season, we can see texture incorporated in foods like hearty soups and pickled vegetables.

What better way to seamlessly complement this trend than with Dudson Finca dinnerware. This collection is a multi-tonal print that mimics the worn textures of rustic interiors and architectural designs. Crafted and creative, Finca is finished in a semi-matte, hand dipped glaze, enhancing the character of the collection. “I love the organic coloration on the Finca dinnerware. It adds a lot of creativity to our dishes, without overpowering the food,” said Chef Leia.
